About Bright Tides Psychology
Meet Yvette McKendry
Bright Tides Psychology is led by Yvette McKendry, a registered psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working within the disability sector and more than a decade in psychological practice.
Support is grounded in both clinical expertise and real-world understanding of the challenges children, adolescents, and families can face.
A calm, collaborative, and family-centred approach sits at the heart of the work, with a strong focus on creating a space where children and families feel understood, supported, and comfortable to engage.
A flexible and individualised approach
Every child experiences the world differently, and therapy should reflect that.
At Bright Tides Psychology, support is adapted to suit each child’s strengths, needs, personality, and comfort level. For some children, this may involve structured therapeutic strategies. For others, meaningful connection may happen through movement, shared activities, play, or support within familiar environments.
Particular care is taken to work in ways that feel respectful, practical, and engaging. With a focus on children and adolescents who may not connect with more traditional approaches to therapy.
Therapeutic support draws on evidence-based approaches including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Family Systems approaches
Parenting and emotional regulation strategies
The focus is always on supporting meaningful change that extends beyond the therapy space and into everyday life.
Support in familiar environments
Bright Tides Psychology operates as a mobile service across Palmwoods, Nambour, Maroochydore, and surrounding Sunshine Coast areas.
Working within environments where children feel comfortable and safe can often support stronger engagement and more meaningful therapeutic outcomes.
Support may be provided within the home, community settings, or other appropriate environments depending on individual needs.
